PETALING JAYA: Ten suspects have been arrested after two people were robbed by a group masquerading as policemen.
Their arrests came after a report was lodged by the victims, who had been stopped by so-called policemen along the North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh in July.
“Four culprits stopped the two people at the side of the road and told them they were policemen.
“They then pretended to perform inspections before running off with the motorcycle and other belongings,” said Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam.
She said the purported policemen were not in uniform and they did not produce any police identification.
Speaking at a press conference at the district police headquarters here yesterday, DCP Sasikala said the 10 suspects, aged between 25 and 39, were arrested on Oct 20.
With their arrests, she said the police have solved 10 robbery cases within Selangor.
Further checks found that they had a total of 26 prior criminal offences between them, besides 10 other narcotics offences.
“Two of them tested positive for drugs.”
She said the 10 suspects had been handed over to Sungai Buloh police for further investigation.
