BEIJING: Describing relations between China and Malaysia as at a promising new start, China’s President Xi Jinping says ties between the two countries are strong.
He said China is ready to work with Malaysia to advance their shared projects, making new contributions to the prosperity and stability of both countries and the region.
Expressing hope for continued collaboration, Xi said: “Let us work together to build a more glorious future for our countries and the broader region.”
He made the remarks during a courtesy call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Great Hall of the People yesterday,
Xi also expressed satisfaction on the strengthening ties between China and Malaysia.
Reflecting on recent diplomatic advancements, he emphasised on the significance of 50 years of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations.“I am very happy to meet the Prime Minister again,” he said.
Xi recalled the recent state visit by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia to China, which he said enabled crucial discussions on advancing bilateral relations.
“I had a candid and friendly exchange with His Majesty, and we reached a broad consensus on promoting high-level development of our relations,” he remarked.
In his remark, Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment towards strengthening collaboration with China, emphasising both trade and broader global objectives.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for China’s continued support and emphasised the importance of shared values and vision between the two nations.
“I have followed you closely, Mr President, especially your brilliant speech at the BRICS Summit. Your support for our partnership with BRICS has been invaluable.
“More importantly, your vision for global security and development resonates deeply with us,” said Anwar.
He further noted that China’s emphasis on “values and civilisation” had set it apart from many other world leaders, underscoring China’s passion for not only its people but also the welfare of humanity.
“This is why we view China not just as a leader in itself but as a voice for the Global South, one that champions the interests of the developing world,” he said.
