IPOH: Perak Deputy Police Chief DCP Zulkafli Sariaat is assuming the duties of Perak Police Chief effective Friday.

Zulkafli took over the job from Datuk Azizi Mat Aris who is going on compulsory retirement after holding the post since last July 16. Aziz joined the police force on April 5, 1987.

A handing over of duties ceremony was held at the Senior Police Officer's Mess in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here on Friday (Nov 8) and witnessed by Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

Azizi, in his speech, expressed gratitude to all parties for their cooperation during his tenure as Perak Police Chief.

"I have translated the responsibility given to the best possible, especially ensuring that the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that have been set are on track.

"All these efforts are based on the commitment shown by all department heads and district police chiefs who have worked with me to ensure that all work plans are carried out smoothly and effectively,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Shuhaily in his speech said Azizi's retirement is a great loss for the Royal Malaysia Police.

"I am confident that Zulkafli will be able to take on the task based on his experience,” he said and thanked Azizi for his service. - Bernama
