Digging into rare earth hub potential

KUALA KANGSAR: The rare earth industry has so far brought RM30.88mil to the state, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, as the state government works to position Perak as a mining hub for these metals in the country.

The Mentri Besar said as part of the initiative, the state’s investment arm, Menteri Besar Incorporated, has set up Terra Mineral Lab, the country’s first rare earth mineral analysis laboratory.

He said the state government is collaborating with a local company on a pilot project to process rare earth elements in Simpang Pulai.

“This company has succeeded in separating four groups of rare earth elements, which are important components in different supply chains.“This further highlights Perak’s potential in producing high-value mineral products,” Saarani said, according to a Bernama report.
