SHAH ALAM: The Selangor DAP convention kicked off on Sunday (Nov 10) with the highlight of the event being the election of a new leadership line-up.
State party chief Gobind Singh, in his opening speech, said Selangor DAP was growing fast with 124 new branches opened recently.
"Selangor currently has the biggest membership," he said.
Gobind also told Selangor party members that political stability was crucial to lure in investors.
He said the reality of moving forward was to get close to the people and strengthen ties.
Gobind also said that DAP had managed to retain its seat in the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election earlier in the year due to the cooperation of all parties in the unity government.
Meanwhile, party secretary-general Anthony Loke also spoke about the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election and said many had expected DAP to lose.
"But with the support of party members, the Selangor Mentri Besar, leaders from other parties and BN, we managed to retain the seat," he added.
He said the outcome made the party proud and proved that was maintained due to unity and close cooperation.
Among the invited guests were Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is Selangor PKR and Pakatan Harapan chief, state Amanah chief Izham Hashim, Selangor Umno chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin and Selangor Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Johan Andul Aziz.
