Woman and son killed in Tampin crash


TAMPIN: A 38-year-old man and his mother were killed when a car ploughed into their motorcycle along KM12 of Jalan Tampin-Gemas near here.

Tampin OCPD Supt Amiruddien Sariman said the man and his 72-year-old mother, who was riding pillion, died on the spot in the 9am incident.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the 19-year-old driver had lost control of the car and crashed into the motorcycle.

"The car driver, who is a mechanic, was heading towards Palong from Pulau Sebang when he failed to negotiate a bend and slammed into the duo.

"The deceased were heading back to Pulau Sebang from Gemencheh when the incident happened," he said in a statement.

Supt Amiruddien said the car driver escaped injury.

He urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Aqwa at 013-9515011 or the Tampin police at 06-443 1999 to assist in the probe.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Supt Amiruddien said the car driver has also been detained for further investigation.
