Molotov cocktail used in break-in cause of Bukit OUG blast

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a 28-year-old delivery rider who allegedly broke into a building at Bukit OUG using a Molotov cocktail.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the incident, which occurred at about 4.10am on Tuesday (Nov 12) caused a loud boom that was heard in the neighbourhood.

"The suspect had eight mineral bottles filled with petrol. Each had a firecracker tied to it.

"We also seized an aluminium bottle filled with firecrackers," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 12).

He urged those with information on the incident to contact KL police at 03-2115 9999.

Earlier on Tuesday, a loud bang was heard in the neighbourhood surrounding the Bukit OUG condominium.

A security guard on duty said there was no fire.

"We heard a motorbike passing through and stopping. A loud bang was heard moments later.

"I called the police and authorities arrived within 15 minutes," he said.

Checks at the site saw a large police presence with forensic unit members conducting investigations before leaving at about 11.45am.

Several condo maintenance workers were also seen clearing shattered glass from one of the doors leading into the main building.
