Sabah to enhance rules to boost cleanliness

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is aiming to make the state cleaner by reviewing all relevant by-laws and ordinances, including those related to waste management.

Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam (pic) said this initiative by the state Local Government and Housing Ministry was part of ongoing efforts to improve cleanliness and the quality of life for the people.

“The Bio Green Machine is designed to process large quantities of organic or food waste, converting it into valuable by-products such as fertiliser,” Gunsalam, who is also the Local Government and Housing Minister, said before launching the said machine at the Sabah Credit Corporation building in Penampang yesterday.

He said the state government, through his ministry, fully supported such innovative solutions because they not only contribute to a cleaner environment in Sabah but also have economic benefits.

The machine is locally manufactured, supporting the state’s economy, he added.

He also encouraged eatery operators and food producers to adopt this technology, as it could significantly ease their problems while making Sabah a cleaner, more sustainable place to live in.
