Motorcyclist and pillion rider killed in Kota Tinggi crash

KOTA TINGGI: A motorcyclist and pillion rider were killed on the spot in a collision with a lorry along Jalan Laksamana near here on Wednesday (Nov 13).

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre received an emergency call at 6.04am and the rescue team arrived at the scene at 6.08am.

Kota Tinggi fire station chief Shawaludin Ami Nordin said the incident occurred in front of the Kota Tinggi Museum.

“A 40-year-old male and a 33-year-old female were found trapped underneath the lorry,’’ he said in a statement.

Shawaludin said firefighters used special equipment to extricate the victims but they were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from the Health Ministry.

He said the lorry driver escaped unhurt.

The victims' bodies were handed over to police and the Health Ministry for further action, he added.
