Motorcyclist killed in crash near Pasir Gudang

PASIR GUDANG: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot in an accident near here on Tuesday (Nov 12).

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident involving a trailer lorry and two motorcycles on Jalan Tembaga bound for Jalan Nikel occurred at 1.07pm.

“The trailer lorry driven by a 45-year-old local man was going towards Jalan Nikel and switched lanes," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 13).

Supt Sohaimi added the driver did so as there was a stalled car on the road shoulder.

He said a 46-year-old motorcyclist heading in the same direction had to brake abruptly to avoid hitting the lorry.

Another motorcycle coming from behind failed to stop and hit the first motorcycle, Supt Sohaimi said.

“The 34-year-old motorcyclist on the second machine suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot," he said.

The first motorcyclist sustained arm, thigh and hip injuries and was sent to Hospital Sultan Ismail in Pandan, Johor Baru.

Supt Sohaimi said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Those with information on the accident are urged to contact Seri Alam district police headquarters at 07-3864222.
