Another company director picked up by MACC over foreign worker quota

PETALING JAYA: Another company director has been detained by graft busters in connection to allegedly submitting documents with false details involving the application of foreign worker quota for the Human Resources Ministry's approval worth RM1.1mil.

Sources said the female suspect, in her 40s, was detained at about 5pm on Wednesday (Nov 13) after having her statement recorded at Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office.

She has since been put under remand until Monday (Nov 18) after the remand application was granted by Magistrate Wan Noora Nisa Ngadirin at Shah Alam Magistrate's Court on Thursday (Nov 14).

"The suspect is believed to be involved in the offence in 2023 by submitting two foreign worker quota applications for 600 workers, where in fact there was no supply of workforce for the project.

"The two applications involved levies worth about RM1.1mil," sources said.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrest, adding that the case was classified under Section 18 of the MACC 2009.

It was reported that the MACC had arrested a Bangladeshi company director with a Datuk title on suspicion of submitting documents with false details involving the application of foreign worker quota for Human Resources Ministry's approval worth RM1.1mil.

According to a source within the Selangor MACC, the man, in his 40s, was arrested at around 9pm on Tuesday (Nov 12) after he showed up at the Selangor MACC office to provide his statement.

"The suspect is believed to have committed the act in 2023 by submitting two quota applications involving 600 foreign workers by the company while the workforce supply for the project submitted did not exist.

"Both applications involved the levy payments of about RM650,000 and RM460,000,” said the source, adding that the suspect has been remanded for six days until Nov 17.
