Charged with murders while bedridden

GEORGE TOWN: While lying in a hospital bed from knife wounds he allegedly inflicted on himself, a man was charged with the murder of a woman he had fallen in love with, as well as her father.

Muhammad Farhan Izzudin Rosman, 32, simply said he understood the two murder charges read before Magistrate Nadratun Naim Mohd Saidi who presided over the proceedings held at the Penang Hospital.

He faces the death penalty or a maximum of 40 years imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane, if found guilty.

Deputy Public Prosecutor M. Darrshini prosecuted.

Nadratun Naim set Jan 15 next year for the case mention.

Police suspect that unrequited love was the motive behind the murders.
