IPOH: A group of school students had been revving their motorcycles shortly before a senior police officer allegedly rammed into a 17-year-old student’s motorcycle, the High Court here was told.
The 13th prosecution witness, Zuraida Hassan, testified that there were about seven to eight school pupils who were revving their motorcycles.
"They were revving their bikes so many times.
"They were revving to and fro the intersection of Jalan Taman Jati and Jalan Pekeliling Meru Indah near SMK Jati and the mosque," said the 46-year old witness when cross-examined by defence lawyer M. Athimulan on the eight day of the trial today (Nov 15).
She was testifying in the murder trial of Deputy Supt Mohd Nazri Abdul Razak, who is accused of ramming his car into 17-year old student Mohammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie's motorcycle, leading to the teenager’s death.
DSP Nazri is charged with murdering Zaharif Affendi at the intersection of Jalan Taman Jati and Jalan Pekeliling Meru Indah near SMK Jati between 12.05pm and 12.40pm on Dec 15.
The case is being heard before Justice Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet.
The defence team also includes former Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid and Aiman Hakim Kamaruzzaman.
DPP Afzainizam Abdul Aziz is leading the prosecution team comprising Nasrul Hadi Abdul Ghani, V. Suloshani and Low Qin Hui.
Athimulan had asked if she had seen the crash upon hearing the loud bang.
"I was in my four-wheel drive that was parked along the road. While I was waiting to pick up my son from school, I was on a phone call with my sister.
"Then I saw from my car's right side mirror that a car was following a motorcycle. Not long after, I heard a loud bang.
"Then, I saw the car being driven speedily after hitting something (motorcycle)," she said
She added that her vehicle’s dashcam had recorded the incident.
"My car has a dashcam, and on Dec 17, last year, I handed over the memory card containing the recording to the police," she said.
The trial continues Friday (Nov 15).
