14 teens, 91yo man among 61 held in Salak South gang initiation ceremony


KUALA LUMPUR: Fourteen teenagers, including students, were among 61 individuals detained in a raid on an initiation ceremony for a gang in Salak South, Sungai Besi.

The raid on a shophouse was conducted by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers from Bukit Aman as well as the Kuala Lumpur and Cheras district police headquarters at about 11am on Friday (Nov 15).

It is learnt that during the raid, a group with suspected links to Gang 360 was found on the premises allegedly making preparations to induct 14 new underage members.

Checks revealed that the teenagers were at the ceremony to be initiated by senior members.

Others present included 10 senior citizens aged between 61 and 91, 37 others aged 18 to 59, and the 14 teenagers.

Some of those detained had criminal records.

It is also learnt that the group has been operating as an association registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

Several items believed to be meant for the oath-taking ceremony were also seized and the 61 detainees were brought to Cheras police headquarters for further action.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the raid when contacted and said a statement would be issued soon.
