Selangor govt to continue development initiative for Indian community under Selangor Budget 2025, says MB

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will continue its efforts towards the state’s Indian Community Education Development initiative under the Selangor Budget 2025.

Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari said, that when tabling the budget, the state will allocate RM1.185 mil to ensure the interest of the B40 Indian community is looked after.

The two main programmes that will be continued under the initiative are the school bus fare subsidy allocation programme and the B40 Indian student education fees assistance programme, he added.

“The state is committed to elevating the burden faced by parents of Indian students,’’ said Amirudin.

According to Mentri Besar, the school bus fare subsidy targeted Indian Tamil school students from struggling families with a monthly household income of RM2,000 and below.

The recipients will get a yearly allocation of RM300 under this programme.

Meanwhile, Indian B40 students pursuing studies at public and private institutions of higher learning will receive aid up to RM5,000 for a bachelor’s degree course and RM3,000 for diploma courses which will be given on a one-off basis and paid directly to the respective institutions.
