JOHOR BARU: Two boys have gone missing in separate incidents here and in Segamat.

In the first incident, Larkin fire and rescue operation commander Nordatul Badrol Abd Rahman said a 10-year-old went missing after playing near a drain with his two friends in the rain.

"The three boys were playing near the drain, when one of them slipped and fell into it.

"The strong current then swept the boy away into a large drain," his statement read, adding that the department received a call about the incident at Bandar Baru Uda at 3.37pm on Friday (Nov 15).

He said the drain the boy fell into was about 3.7m deep and 6.7m wide.

"The water level in the drain at the time of the incident was about 2.4m deep," he added.

In a separate incident, Segamat fire and rescue department operation commander Mansor Mohamad said they received a call about a missing 14-year-old boy at 6.40pm on the same day.

"We have deployed six firemen to the scene in search of the teenager, who went missing while swimming in Sungai Palong in Buloh Kasap," he said.

As of press time, both search and rescue operations were still ongoing.
