KLUANG: A burglary in Jalan Laksamana, Sunrise Park, here, turned fatal on Friday (Nov 15) evening when one suspect was found dead at the scene.

Kluang deputy OCPD Supt Nik Mohd Azmi Husin said that police have since arrested two individuals, while another suspect remains at large.

He added that the incident occurred at 7.12pm after a local man alerted authorities about the break-in, prompting swift action by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB).

“Two suspects were apprehended during the operation, while one succumbed to injuries sustained at the scene.

“Initial investigations suggest the deceased suffered a severe injury to the right arm, possibly involving a major blood vessel.

“Police are examining whether the injury was caused by an iron fence or another object during the break-in or escape attempt,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (Nov 16).

Supt Nik Mohd Azmi added that the fourth suspect, identified as Mohamad Sahli Talib, aged 39, is still at large.

“His last known address is in Kampung Belukar Gunong, Bachok, Kelantan, and police are actively working to locate him,” he added.

All four suspects, aged between 29 and 48, have prior records for criminal and drug-related offences.

Urine tests revealed that the two detained suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which could result in up to 14 years imprisonment and a fine if convicted.

Supt Nik Mohd Azmi also shared that the death of the suspect is being treated as a sudden death case, with a post-mortem scheduled to determine the precise cause and nature of the injury.
