Jobless man charged with murdering aunt


IPOH: A 21-year-old jobless man has been charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with murdering his aunt.

Lee Hao Yi nodded when the charge was read before Magistrate Siti Nora Sharif yesterday.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty upon conviction.

No plea was recorded from the accused as the case falls under the High Court’s jurisdiction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Aqilah Syaza Ariffin prosecuted, while the accused was not represented.

The court set Feb 18 next year for mention.

According to the charge sheet, Lee had murdered Lee Huey Ting, 54, between Nov 6 and Nov 10 at No 20, Jalan Pengkalan Barat 25, Taman Puteri Lindungan Bintang, Kinta here.

On Nov 11, acting Perak police chief Deputy Comm Zulkafli Sariaat said that police acting on a call from the woman’s brother found her decomposing body inside the house here the day before.

He said the accused was living with the woman in the house.
