“The driver heading towards the Pasir Gudang Highway allegedly ran a red light and collided with a motorcycle coming from Jalan Masjid.

“The motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man, and his pillion rider, a 35-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement.

Supt Mohd Sohaimi added that the 34-year-old driver of the car was found to have alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit and has been taken into custody.

“However, a urine test confirmed he was not under the influence of drugs.
