National athletes spotted checking out Ioniq 5 at Sunway Pyramid

BANDAR SUNWAY: The third day of the StarCarSifu Auto Show 2024 at Sunway Pyramid saw visitors getting up close and test-driving the latest models from Proton, Nissan, Chery, Hyundai, Leapmotor, Lexus and Toyota.

Admission is free and visitors at the show, located at LG2 Blue and Orange concourse at the shopping centre, can also take advantage of the latest offers, promotions and rebates.

Visitors can look forward to the latest range of petrol-powered, hybrid or all-electric models, and also get a chance to test-drive certain models or receive gifts and discounts.

Among those spotted yesterday were national bowlers Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman and Nora Lyana Nastasia Norkamal, who were checking out the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 CUV (crossover utility vehicle).

“Actually, I prefer SUVs (sport utility vehicles) because of the higher ride height, which should be better on flooded or water-logged roads,” said Siti Safiyah, who was attracted by the unique and stylish design of the Ioniq 5.

Another visitor was sales engineer Lee See Wee, who was interested in the Lexus RX 350.

“I feel that SUVs are better, especially during the rainy season. As for BEVs (battery electric vehicles), I think that they are good for daily city driving but for out-of-town trips, I have concerns about the driving range, charging duration and infrastructure,” he said.

A medical doctor from Melaka, who wanted to be known only as Shah, was spotted taking a closer look at the Nissan Serena J Impul.

“I am looking for a spacious seven-seater car for my growing family,” said Shah.

The StarCarSifu Auto Show 2024, which ends tomorrow (Sunday), is organised by Star Media Group Bhd.

Proton is showcasing its hot-selling S70, X70 and X90 models.

The national carmaker’s year-end Proton Vaganza campaign is also running till Dec 31 where customers who test-drive Proton models and join the campaign will stand a chance to win cash prizes of up to RM2,500.

Those who put down a booking and register a new Proton vehicle that month will automatically enter a monthly lucky draw and stand a chance to win the grand prize of a brand-new S70 sedan.

Nissan brought its latest generation intelligent e-Power hybrid system that delivers high levels of fuel economy with the driving smoothness of an EV.

The fuel-sipping e-Power hybrid system is used in the second-generation Nissan Note hatchback, as well as other models in Nissan’s lineup.

With the government’s plan to roll back RON95 petrol subsidies in the near future, Nissan’s impressive fuel-sipping e-Power technology would be much welcomed by Malaysian motorists.

Visitors can also view Chery’s range of popular and well-specified sports utility vehicles – the Omoda 5, Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro.

All its SUVs are equipped with the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensuring a superior and safe driving experience while combining cutting-edge technology with robust performance.

Exciting on-site exclusive promotions are available for Chery car buyers.

Drop by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors’ (HSDM) display and take advantage of the Hyundai Year End Deals where new Hyundai buyers can save up to RM25,000 and stand a chance to win a 4D3N luxury trip for two to South Korea.

The trip includes business class flights and a guided tour of the Hyundai Motorstudio in Goyang.

The year-end promotion runs until Dec 31 and also allows buyers to enjoy savings on new and unregistered cars at revised prices.

In addition, HSDM also offers the Hyundai Promise Approved Used Car Programme as a reliable way to buy pre-owned Hyundai vehicles.

Meanwhile, Toyota dealer PCM Group is displaying the Lexus RX 350 and Toyota Yaris G and offering test drives for the Lexus LBX, as well as Toyota Vios and Yaris.

The fully-imported RX 350 Luxury variant is equipped with a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, while the Yaris has been improved with a sporty new front and rear skirting, and also gets a larger nine-inch touchscreen display.

Stellantis dealer Allure Auto is showcasing the recently launched all-electric Leapmotor C10 and providing test drives for the C10 and the Peugeot 408.

The all-electric C10 is a D-Segment SUV that offers a 424km (WLTP) driving range, and is designed around family-centricity, flexibility and has class-leading cabin space.
