TAWAU: A girl had to endure pain for over an hour after her ring finger got stuck on the doorknob at her home in Jalan Bukit Kawa Apas Balung, near here, on Sunday (Nov 17).
Following the incident, the family member of the 11-year-old child had to get help from the fire department to cut the doorknob.
Tawau Fire and Rescue station chief Jemishin Ujin said he received a call about the incident at 7:05 p.m., and seven members were dispatched to the location.
"Upon arrival, the team found that the child's right ring finger had been stuck in the doorknob for more than an hour before they arrived.
"Firefighters then used special cutting equipment to open the doorknob before successfully freeing the girl’s finger about 10 minutes later," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Sunday (Nov 17).
He added that the operation ended at 8.07pm after the location was checked for other dangers.
