PETALING JAYA: A school security guard in Pahang is willing to look after six adopted children apart from his own three biological children.
Che Hanapi Che Hassan, 44, who earns RM1,500 per month working as a guard at SK Padang Rumbia in Pekan, said the six adopted children are related to his wife.
So he felt a strong sense of responsibility towards them.
“Three of them were already under my wife’s care before we got married.
“The other three lost their parents after our marriage,” he said in an interview with Bahasa Malaysia news portal Majoriti.
“Their parents passed away, mostly under tragic circumstances. Some died of cancer, others were paralysed.”
With nine children under one roof, life has certainly been challenging for Che Hanapi, especially when it involves money.
“The most difficult situation was when the children were young and needed constant care.
“Before they grew up and most of them had their own jobs, I had to work extra hard, especially when they went for further studies at university as the cost was higher.
“But, thankfully, all of us always had enough to eat.
“The most important thing is to keep working and ensure the children receive a good education,” he said.
For Che Hanapi, bringing in the six orphans under his care is one of the best decisions he has ever made.
“I don’t see it as a problem,” he added.
He believes that when everything is done with good intentions, the reward will come.
In addition to taking care of nine children, Che Hanapi also volunteers as the chairman of the school’s parent-teacher association, although he is not paid for the service.
He does not ask for anything in return, but most importantly he hopes that his children can get a good education and a better life.
“I just hope they all succeed in life and can take care of my wife and me in our golden years,” said Che Hanapi.
