Severe weather expected in six states until 5pm today


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for most parts of Malaysia, including Selangor and Negri Sembilan.

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 1pm on Monday (Nov 18), thunderstorms are expected over the state of Perak, Kelantan, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Sabah and Sarawak as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Also affected are Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), Pahang (Bentong), Selangor and Negri Sembilan (Seremban and Port Dickson).

Also seeing rains are Sarawak (Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kanowit) and Mukah) and Sabah (Tawau, Sandakan and Kudat).

The advisory is until 5pm today.

The Northeast Monsoon phase is expected to continue until March 2025, bringing about five to seven episodes of heavy rainfall throughout this period.
