PETALING JAYA: The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia honoured 70 exceptional industry players at the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2024.

IAQ Solutions Sdn Bhd was named Builder of the Year for its outstanding contributions, particularly the Testing Manufacturing Plant project for Robert Bosch. Established in 1994 as a cleanroom specialist, IAQ Solutions has expanded into a global force with 12 offices across seven countries, serving prestigious clients like Bosch and Western Digital.

The Prominent Player Award, the highest individual honour, went to Tan Sri Lim Keng Cheng, chairman of Lim Seong Hai Capital Berhad, in recognition of his transformative impact on Malaysia’s built environment over three decades.

WCT Berhad received the International Achievement Award for its significant role in the Lusail Development Project in Doha, Qatar, which included the construction of Lusail Stadium, the venue for the 2022 Fifa World Cup final.

Held on Monday (Nov 18) and organised by CIDB, the MCIEA 2024 Awards celebrated those at the forefront of innovation, quality, and excellence within the construction sector. This year’s selection process involved a rigorous, transparent review conducted by 40 assessors and a panel of six eminent industry experts.

Three major projects were highlighted for their excellence: Menara Affin and Pejabat Kerajaan in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya respectively, both earning the Best Project Award – Building (Major Category).

Meanwhile, the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit: Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (Line 2) was recognised with the Best Project Award – Infrastructure (Major Category).

Datuk Sr Mohd Zaid Zakaria, CIDB's Chief Executive, remarked, “The MCIEA awards are not just a celebration of success; they embody the strength, spirit, and relentless pursuit of excellence that define our industry. Every submitted project and innovation is a step towards a better-built Malaysia for future generations.”

“The pandemic brought unprecedented disruptions but also opportunities for transformation and reinvention,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, alongside Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Secretary-General Datuk Seri Azman Ibrahim, and CIDB Malaysia chairman Yusuf Haji Abd Wahab.
