A 13-YEAR-OLD schoolboy dedicated his time to caring for his bedridden mother, prioritising family over school classes and social activities, reported Sinar Harian.
As the sole child in his family, Fiqball Iman Firdaus devoted three days to being by his mother’s side following her stroke earlier this year in October. Ramlah Andot, 51, a single mother, had been employed at a cafeteria in Fiqball’s school, SMK Ajil, located in Hulu Terengganu, when she experienced a stroke.
“When we returned to the dormitory, I saw my mother sitting down to eat, but suddenly she went silent and stopped moving.
“Even after she was admitted to the hospital, I felt overwhelmed as I was afraid of losing her,” he said at his house in Kampung Bukit Kulim.
Fiqball dedicates his free time after classes to caring for his mother and managing daily household tasks such as cleaning, serving meals, and administering medicine.
Thanks to Fiqball’s love and care for his mum, Ramlah’s recovery has been swift. She can now move and walk around on her own, albeit with limited mobility.
Ramlah conveyed her deep appreciation for her son’s actions and the support of her siblings, who have been instrumental in caring for her and Fiqball since her stroke.
“I’m thankful that I live close to my siblings, as one of them comes here daily to help look after me, especially when Iman is at school.
“And before going to school, Iman usually cooks oatmeal and half-boiled eggs for me while making sure I eat, drink and take my medicine,” she said.
