Cruise ship Anthem of the Seas makes call in Penang


GEORGE TOWN: The Anthem of the Seas, a cruise ship with a maximum capacity of 4,905 guests, has made a port call in Penang for a day.

Its arrival brought large flocks of tourists – part of a 14-day journey from Dubai to Singapore, with previous visits to Mumbai and Kochi in India, as well as Phuket, Thailand.

Throughout Tuesday (Nov 19), the visitors will explore the city's Unesco Heritage Sites and tour on trishaws, buses and vans while visiting key attractions like Penang Hill and the Esplanade.

The ship’s towering presence also drew the attention of locals to admire it from shore.

Among the largest and most innovative cruise ships in the world, it is 348m in length with 16 passenger-accessible decks, 18 total decks and over 2,000 staterooms.

The ship arrived at 8am.

According to its itinerary on CruiseMapper, it will leave Penang at 5pm.
