Monsoon to intensify with heavy rain forecast for east coast of peninsula later this month

PETALING JAYA: Continuous heavy rain is expected along the east coast of the peninsula from late November to early December, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

The department's analysis indicates that the current monsoon season will intensify in two weeks, reaching its peak strength from Nov 27 to Dec 1 this year.

"This situation has the potential to cause very heavy and continuous rainfall along the east coast of the peninsula," it stated on Tuesday (Nov 19).

MetMalaysia advised residents along the east coast to take necessary safety precautions for themselves and their properties as soon as possible.

The department said it will continue monitoring the situation and provide regular updates on weather conditions, which are accessible on its social media platforms and website.
