PETALING JAYA: It was the late Tun Daim Zainuddin's wish that the pending charge against him proceeds, whatever happens to him, so there is no need for the Attorney General or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to review it, says his widow Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid.
She said this is because the investigation that went on for over a year was "frivolous, malicious and politically motivated".
"That it is baseless is clear from the fact that neither the Prime Minister nor MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki... has been able to say if Daim had committed any offence, as there isn't any," she said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 19).
"I would like to state categorically on behalf of Daim that it was his wish that the pending charge against him proceed in court, whatever happens to him, until a conclusion (is reached)," she added.

She said Daim had looked forward to his day in court and had no doubt that he would ultimately be acquitted.
"As such we do not seek for the case to be reviewed, discontinued, or withdrawn by the prosecution.
"I have instructed my solicitors to write to the AG to give notice to resolve this matter, where my counsel will accordingly inform the KL Sessions Court of our determination that the trial proceeds when the matter resumes on Wednesday (Nov 20)," she added.
On Jan 29, former finance minister Daim claimed trial at the Sessions Court here over alleged failure to declare his assets.
He passed away on Nov 13 at age 86.
