Manhunt underway for four armed robbery suspects in Bukit Selambau

SUNGAI PETANI: Police are searching for four male suspects believed to be connected to an armed robbery at an oil palm collection centre in Kampung Perak Sungkup, Bukit Selambau, which occurred on Sunday (Nov 17).

Kuala Muda district police received a report on the incident at 1.50pm the same day, OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said.

"A car was seen entering the premises, followed by three masked men, dressed in black, who swiftly moved towards the workers outside the building, while another suspect remained in the vehicle," he said on Tuesday (Nov 19).

He added that the suspects, armed with pistols and machetes, smashed a window and fired a shot into the ceiling before fleeing in the same car.

No injuries were reported. The case is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms Act.

"Our efforts to locate the suspects are ongoing, and we appeal to anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 04-423 6999,” he urged.

The suspect was apprehended by a team from the Tasek Gelugor Police Station, Seberang Perai Utara, Penang, around 4pm.

"A bracelet believed to be linked to the robbery was also seized,” he disclosed.

Further investigations revealed the suspect confessed to being involved in the robbery and has a record with 12 prior criminal cases and 10 drug-related offences.
