Over 20 cases involving 3R issues brought to courts since 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 20 cases involving 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues have been brought to court since 2023, says Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) said that in 2024, eight cases were brought to court, five involving royalty and three on religious issues.

"There were no cases regarding racial issues in 2024," she added.

In 2023, however, 13 3R cases were brought to court.

"Eight cases involved royalty, three on religious issues and two involving racial issues," she said in a written reply to Kamal Ashaari (PN-Kuala Krau)

Kamal had asked for the number of cases related to 3R issues prosecuted since 2023.

Azalina also said for cases involving royalty, four resulted in convictions while all three cases involving religious issues resulted in convictions.
