Police investigate house break-in and vehicle theft in Ulu Tiram


JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating a house break-in and vehicle theft at a residence in Taman Dato’ Chellam, Ulu Tiram.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat reported that the case was reported on Monday (Nov 18) and occurred between 11am and 5pm while the house occupants were at work.

"Upon returning home, the occupants found the gate and main door pried open, with the interior in disarray.

"Stolen items included a vehicle and its keys, various pieces of jewellery, and RM5,000 in cash, with total losses estimated at RM50,000," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 19).

ACP Raub noted that preliminary investigations suggest the suspect entered by scaling the fence and forcing open the main door.

"The house lacked CCTV, and no independent witnesses were available as neighbours were also away during the incident.

"Efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing, and we urge the public with any information to come forward and assist with the investigation," he added.

He also reminded residents to enhance home security by installing additional locks or surveillance systems to prevent such incidents.
