Shamsuddin Ludin begins tenure as Deputy Navy Chief


KUALA LUMPUR: Vice Admiral Datuk Shamsuddin Ludin has officially begun his tenure as the Deputy Navy Chief on Tuesday (Nov 19).

His arrival at Wisma Pertahanan was welcomed by Human Resource assistant chief of staff Rear Admiral Badarudin Taha and Administration assistant chief of staff First Admiral Kamaruddin Omar along with the navy's top leadership.

Vice Admiral Shamsuddin had previously held the post of the navy's Western Fleet commander, starting from Oct 18 last year.

Among his previous posts were senior squadron officer of 26th MCMV while serving as the commanding officer of KD Mahamiru, Senior officer as the 23rd Frigate while serving as commanding officer of KD Jebat.

He is also the former armed forces' defence cyber and electromagnetic division director-general.

In terms of academic achievements, Vice Admiral Shamsuddin obtained a Master's Degree in Management and Defence Studies at University of Canberra, Australia. He also holds a Master's Degree in Maritime Studies from the University of Wollongong, Australia.

He also graduated from the Australian Command and Staff College as well as the US Naval War College in Rhode Island.

"Vice Admiral Shamsuddin also received the Cyber Security Expert 2021 award issued by Cyber Security Malaysia.

"It is in recognition of his contributions and initiatives in the cyber security field.

"He was also appointed as Universiti Teknologi Mara Adjunct Professor," the navy said in a statement today.
