THE management committee of Sri Muniswaran Temple in Sabak Bernam are glad to finally put the temple land matter to rest, Makkal Osai reported.

The temple, which is said to be more than 100 years old, was built on land belonging to the Public Works Department by the collective efforts of the department’s Indian staff at the time, temple chairman Murugan Ponnusamy said.

The committee in charge of the temple had been trying to get the land gazetted for the temple for many years but had been unsuccessful.

However, the state government has finally given the temple its land deed in the current location, which has brought joy to the committee and the local Hindu community, temple secretary and teacher Suntharam Narayanan said.

With the land matter settled, the committee will now embark on its long-time plan of building a new home for Lord Muniswaran in the current location.
