CCTV footage leads to arrest of Kluang man for alleged molestation


KLUANG: A closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) recording that went viral has led the police to arrest a divorcee for allegedly molesting a woman here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident happened on Monday (Nov 18) at around 8.57am.

“The victim, who is a local woman, was walking towards her workplace along Jalan Gunung Lambak here when an unknown man riding a motorcycle headed towards her.

“The CCTV recording showed the suspect was coming towards the victim from her back and touched her buttocks,” he said here on Wednesday (Nov 20).

ACP Bahrin added that based on information, police arrested the suspect, who is in his 30s, for allegedly being involved in the case.

“Checks found that the unemployed suspect is a divorcee and has been living with his mother and siblings. Further checks also revealed that he has no prior criminal records and tested negative for drugs,” he said.

ACP Bahrin also said the suspect was under remand for four days until Saturday (Nov 23) to assist with the investigation under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

He urged those with information regarding the case to lodge a report at the nearest police station or call the Kluang police hotline at 07-7766822.
