Fake Socso claims: Officers under probe back at work but transferred, Dewan Rakyat told

KUALA LUMPUR: Five Health Ministry officers implicated in a corruption scandal involving falsified Social Security Organisation (Socso) disability claims in Penang have resumed their duties.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the officers have been transferred to other hospitals while awaiting the investigation's results.

He said they were initially suspended under Regulation 43 of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 from Sept 17, to facilitate the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) probe.

“The suspension period lasted 30 days and ended on Oct 16.

“As of now, the officers have returned to work but have been reassigned to other hospitals while awaiting the outcome of the investigation and possible charges by the MACC,” he said in a parliamentary written reply on Wednesday (Nov 20).

He emphasised the ministry’s commitment to integrity and accountability.

“As a matter of principle, the ministry does not compromise on abuse of power or corruption,” he added.

He also said the orthopaedics department at the hospital involved in the investigation is operating as usual so that patient care would not be interrupted.

Officers from nearby hospitals are supporting the services, he added.
