Girl died from falling off bicycle, not hit-and-run, say cops

SUNGAI BULOH: The 10-year-old girl who was found seriously hurt on the road in Kuang has died.

According to police, the child died at 10am on Wednesday (Nov 20) after what was initially thought to be a hit-and-run.

However, Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said that the girl had sustained her injuries while falling off her bicycle on Friday (Nov 15).

"Investigations showed that she was injured after falling off her bicycle because part of her pants had got stuck to the bicycle chain.

"Statements from witnesses match investigations on the pants worn by the victim during the incident which showed tears and lubricant oil from the chain,' he said.

He added that no signs of vehicle collision were found in the case.

Witnesses that came forward included other motorists who were at the scene during the collision.

A total of five witnesses had their statements recorded, including two who had run over to assist the victim after the collision.
