Negri MACC nabs four enforcement officers over RM1,000 bribe

The four being taken away after the MACC obtained a court order to remand them.

SEREMBAN: Four enforcement officers have been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly soliciting and accepting a RM1,000 bribe.

The four had allegedly accepted the bribe as an inducement to not act against the individual as his vehicle did not have valid road tax.

The vehicle’s roadworthiness permit from Puspakom had also expired.

The MACC obtained a court order to remand the four until Saturday (Nov 23).

It is learnt that the four, in their 20s to 40s, were detained when they turned up at the Negri Sembilan MACC office here for questioning on Tuesday (Nov 19).

According to a preliminary probe, the four are suspected to have committed the offence on Nov 12 at the Seremban R&R along the North-South Expressway.

One of the suspects allegedly accepted the cash which was transferred online to the bank account of a third party.

When contacted Wednesday (Nov 20), state MACC chief Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the matter and said it was being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
