Azalina's appointment reflects recognition of Malaysia's role in fight against corruption, PM tells Parliament


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said's appointment as International Anti-Corruption Academy chairman reflects Malaysia's recognised role in addressing corruption at a global level, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Malaysia’s achievement in securing the most votes it has ever received in the election to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) for the term 2025-2031.

“The connection between these developments is evident. In the recent UNCITRAL election for 2025-2031, Malaysia secured an unprecedented 179 votes out of 183, a record achievement since our independence.

“The International Anti-Corruption Academy, with 85 member countries, has acknowledged the work of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“Malaysia has now been endorsed to lead the International Anti-Corruption Academy, with Azalina set to chair this international body,” Anwar said during the Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT) in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Nov 21).
