Johor to introduce ‘super lane’ to accelerate businesses

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor will introduce a “super lane” to facilitate business as part of the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the Johor Super Lane (JSL) is a platform part of Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre Johor (IMFC-J), which acts as a one-stop facilitation centre involving government agencies and local authorities.

“The JSL is set to standardise processes and bring significant improvements, such as saving up to two years for the land development process for lands that have yet to obtain permission for a layout plan.

“This process is expected to be shortened from 37 months to 13 months,” he said when tabling the Johor Budget 2025 during the state assembly at Kota Iskandar on Thursday (Nov 21).

He added that under the JSL, business licences could also be issued in one hour after the applicant produces their certificate of completion and compliance.

Onn Hafiz said that JSL was a manifestation of the existing Kulai Fast Lane (KFL) initiative, which has become the benchmark for other local councils in the state as well as states in Melaka and Selangor.

He added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also mentioned the KFL in his Budget 2025 tabulation.

“A JS-SEZ select committee will also be formed, involving bi-partisan assemblymen, to study the effectiveness and propose improvements that can be taken to ensure that the zone can benefit the people,” added Onn Hafiz.
