Sabah STAR's Edward Linggu replaces Umno's Noraini as Senator

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah STAR secretary general Datuk Edward Linggu was elected by Sabah Assembly to be Senator at Dewan Negara.

He replaces Sabah Wanita Umno chief Senator Datuk Noraini Idris whose three-year term ends on Dec 9, 2024.

Sabah Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim Yahya announced it after all 53 members present at the assembly hall voted for Linggu, the sole candidate to replace Noraini. The remaining 26 assemblymen were not present during the vote.

Kadzim said Linggu's term as Senator would be effective from Dec 10.

Linggu, a former one-term assemblyman for Tamparuli from 1999, is currently chairman of the Sabah Rubber Fund Board.
