SERI ISKANDAR: Seri Iskandar Hospital will start its operation on Dec 11, says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
He said the RM153.18 mil construction began on Jan 29, 2021, and was completed on Oct 28 this year.
"For the operation of this hospital, 516 new positions have been approved, including 22 medical officer posts, 97 assistant medical officers, 137 nurses, and 260 positions for other service schemes," he said at the handover ceremony for the Seri Iskandar Hospital project and the Seri Manjung Hospital additional block on Thursday (Nov 21).
Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi also attended the event.
Dzulkefly added that Seri Iskandar Hospital would continue the role of Changkat Melintang Hospital as a Non-Lead Hospital, with specialised services provided by Hospital Seri Manjung, which acts as the Lead Hospital.
"This model ensures that Seri Iskandar Hospital will have access to expert services through regular visits. These services include emergency medicine, general medicine and surgery,
paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics, gynaecology and radiology," he said.
He said that Changkat Melintang Hospital would continue to operate as a step-down ward and is currently being evaluated for its potential to become a hemodialysis centre, especially for nearby patients.
Meanwhile, Dzulkefly said the construction of the additional block at Seri Manjung Hospital, which cost RM75mil and was completed on Aug 27, is scheduled to begin operations on Jan 13, 2025.
He said the additional block includes two new buildings: a four-story building with 48 additional beds and four surgery halls and a single-story building housing a psychiatric ward.
Dzulkefly added that Several other healthcare facility projects in Perak are still under construction and are scheduled for completion in 2025 and 2026, namely the Parit Buntar Hospital construction, the upgrading of the Transfusion Department at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital and a new Maternal and Child Health (MCH) building at the Greentown Health Clinic in Ipoh.
