Civil Defence Force Melaka prepares for Northeast Monsoon with boat handling exercise

ALOR GAJAH: The Civil Defence Force Melaka has conducted a boat handling exercise in preparation for the Northeast Monsoon.

In a statement on Friday (Nov 22), the force explained that the purpose of the exercise was to ensure all officers and personnel are fully on standby for swift deployment to disaster locations, particularly during floods.

The training covered key areas such as boat rescue operations, basic boat engine maintenance, drowning rescue techniques, and the use of throw bags for rescue efforts.

A total of 80 participants took part, including officers and personnel from the state office, district offices, and unit offices across Melaka.

The training is vital and will be held regularly to ensure Civil Defence Melaka maintains the highest level of preparedness for disasters and emergencies, by providing the best possible service throughout this monsoon season, which will have a positive impact on the community.

Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department announced on Monday (Nov 11) that the Northeast Monsoon season has begun and is expected to continue until March next year. - Bernama
