Doctor pleads not guilty after charged with insulting woman’s modesty in Perak


IPOH: A doctor was charged with insulting the modesty of a woman at the Magistrate's Court here.

Sinar Harian reported that Dr Amirul Haqim Ayub, 31, pleaded not guilty to the charges read before Magistrate Naidatul Athirah Azman at the Teluk Intan court on Friday (Nov 22).

According to the charges, the married medical officer of a hospital here is accused of deliberately insulting the modesty of a 27-year-old female employee by recording videos of her back and body parts using a mobile phone.

The offence is said to have been committed at a beauty and healthcare shop in a supermarket in Jalan Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan around 6.30pm on July 12.

Dr Amirul who is charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of an individual, faces up to five years imprisonment or a fine or both, if convicted.

Prosecution was handled by Prosecuting Officer Insp Nurul Farahdiana Md Saad while the accused was represented by S.Kumaresan, a lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation.

Naidatul allowed bail at RM3,500 with one surety and set next Dec 30 this year (2024) for case mention.

Based on the police report, the incident occurred while the victim was stocking new items at the store.

Examination through closed circuit camera (CCTV) footage found that the accused had approached the worker and recorded a video of the victim's back.
