Man escapes with minor injuries after tree falls on car in Penang


NIBONG TEBAL: A man narrowly escaped death when his car was hit by a fallen tree on Jalan Tasek Mutiara 2, Sungai Bakap here on Thursday (Nov 21) night.

Sungai Bakap Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander, Senior Fire Officer II Ahmad Tanusi Ismail said they received an emergency call about the incident at 9.07pm.

Upon arrival at the scene, he said a large tree had crushed the car driven by the victim, reported Sinar Harian.

"The 47-year-old victim suffered minor injuries and he was able to go to the hospital on his own to get treatment.

"The Fire Department then carried out cutting and removing the fallen tree until it was finished," he said in a statement on Thursday.

He added that the operation was also assisted by nearby volunteer firemen.
