MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning in nine states till 6pm today


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for most parts of Malaysia, including Pahang and Johor.

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 2pm on Friday (Nov 22), thunderstorms are expected over Kedah (Padang Terap, Sik and Baling), Perak, (Muallim), Pahang (Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera), Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Baru) as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Also affected are Sarawak: Kuching, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya) and Sri Aman (Sri Aman); Sabah: West Coast (Papar, Ranau and Kota Belud), Tawau (Tawau and Lahad Datu) and Kudat.

The advisory is until 6pm today.

The Northeast Monsoon phase is expected to continue until March 2025, bringing about five to seven episodes of heavy rainfall throughout this period.
