KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has no information on claims that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low is hiding in Myanmar, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) said so far, the federal police have not received any information from authorities in Myanmar on Jho Low’s whereabouts.
“If there is such information, surely the authorities in Myanmar would have informed us as they are also part of Aseanapol.
“Any information that we have (on the matter) we will share with them and vice versa,” he told reporters after attending a mega graduation ceremony for those who had completed their basic police training, held at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here yesterday.
The IGP said Bukit Aman also cooperated with Interpol and Aseanapol in investigating Jho Low’s whereabouts.
“Recently, I attended the Interpol’s General Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland, for a week. We would have shared any info that we have (on Jho Low’s location).
“Any information that we have, we would have shared it with Myanmar (to assist them) and anything that we need assistance with, they would reciprocate.
“However, so far neither we nor the authorities in Myanmar have any information on Jho Low’s location,” he said.
Earlier this week, lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah had alleged that Jho Low might be hiding in Myanmar under the protection of its military generals.
During a media townhall on Monday, the lawyer for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said that during Najib’s 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial, a witness’ testimony pointed to Myanmar.
Muhammad Shafee said that according to former 1MDB general counsel Jasmine Loo’s testimony, Low had arranged for a fake Myanmar passport to help her enter the war-torn country.
Muhammad Shafee was speaking to the public after being asked about Jho Low’s whereabouts and why it was so difficult to locate him.
