KULAI: Police are on the hunt for a man in his 50’s to help with an investigation involving a 12-year-old girl who has been allegedly molested.
Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the police received a report on the incident at 6.40pm on Wednesday (Nov 20).
“Initial investigation revealed that the victim was brought to the hospital to be treated for depression.
“While meeting with the medical officer, the victim shared that she had been molested by the husband of her sitter,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (Nov 23).
ACP Tan added that the incident had occurred last year at the sitter’s house.
“Police are currently looking for the suspect to help with the investigation,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, for physical sexual assault on a child.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, ACP Tan shared that a 49-year-old man allegedly lost RM218,000 after falling for a fake investment scheme.
“The victim, who works as an e-hailing driver, was drawn to an investment opportunity promising returns of 3% to 5% within three days.
“The suspect claimed that the profits would be deposited into the victim’s Arcadia Equity application account,” he said.
Tempted by the promised gains, the victim made seven transactions totalling RM218,000 to three local bank accounts between Oct 16 and Nov 13.
“Upon checking his Arcadia Equity account, the victim noticed an apparent profit of RM500,000. However, when he attempted to withdraw the funds, the account was blocked.
“Suspecting that he had been scammed, the victim lodged a police report on Friday (Nov 22),” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which deals with cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
