PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s beauty queen Sandra Lim who made it to the top 30 in the Miss Universe competition is expected to touch down in the country on Saturday morning.
In an Instagram post on Friday (Nov 21), Sandra wrote: “My beloved Malaysia, I’m finally coming back to Malaysia after one month.”
Responding with excitement, fellow Malaysians in the hundreds are welcoming her back by turning up at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Saturday (Nov 23).
Sandra whose flight is expected to land at 8.30am is the talk of the town and pride of Malaysia after she ended Malaysia’s 53-year drought on the Miss World platform.
On social media, her homecoming is welcomed by many Malaysians.
One user, @sandraforuniverse said: “Welcome home our Queen, our Walinong Sari warrior and our pride.”

With hundreds of welcoming home wishes and more than 2.5 likes on Instagram, Sandra has made a huge impact, evident in the support shown by fellow Malaysians from all walks of life.
Sandra is the second Malaysian representative in history to make it to this stage, according to Kosmo.
The first and last time Malaysia made it to the top was in 1970, represented by Josephine Lena Wong.
Sandra delivered a stunning performance during the preliminary round (prelims) held last Friday, where she donned a national costume.
Her performance in the national costume segment, featuring the "Walinong Sari" attire, as well as the swimsuit segment, was circulated worldwide on social media.
“Malaysia’s name was heard in Mexico. Congratulations, Sandra. You’ve finally ended the 53-year “drought” in Miss Universe. Malaysia boleh!” commented a netizen.
A total of 130 countries participated in the Miss Universe 2024 competition, making it the largest participation in the history of the event.
