Four rescued from fire at Kajang

KAJANG: Four people were rescued following a fire at a two-storey shophouse and three adjacent shops at Kampung Sungai Chua.

Firemen had to use a bolt cutter to open the doors as the two men and two women aged between 27 and 58, were trapped in the inferno early Sunday (Nov 24) morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the distress call was received at 3.28am.

"25 firemen were dispatched to the scene.

"The shophouse was already 75% burnt while the three other shops were 90% burnt.

"Four victims were trapped but we managed to break the doors open using a bolt cutter and rescue them," he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 24).

All victims were rushed to a nearby hospital as they had trouble breathing due to smoke inhalation, he said.
