Body in freezer: Man to be charged with mum's murder tomorrow, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: The 53-year-old man detained in connection with the murder of his mother, whose body was found in a freezer in Taman OUG, will be charged on Tuesday (Nov 26).

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the suspect will be charged on Tuesday (Nov 26) on the expiry of his remand.

"The investigation paper was referred to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) earlier today and the AGC has consented for the suspect to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"We have recorded the statements of 13 individuals pertaining to the investigation," he said when contacted on Monday (Nov 25).

It was previously reported that the preliminary cause of death behind the macabre murder of the elderly victim was chest injuries due to blunt force trauma.

Police are still waiting for the full post-mortem report.

The suspect was discharged from hospital after being treated on Nov 20 and subsequently remanded until Nov 26.

On Nov 12, the action of the suspect was uncovered after police inspected his double-storey houses in Taman OUG.

The suspect contacted the police and told them he was not well and he had stuffed his mother's body in a freezer.

It is learnt that the suspect had financial problems as well as a chronic health problem.

Police identified a personal disagreement as the motive behind the murder.

Sources said the personal disagreement between the suspect and the victim was over a religious issue.

Police also believed the victim's body has been kept in the freezer since 2021.
